“ For this show, Lisa Beane presents brand new work—the outcome of an intense period of personal and artistic growth. While these paintings mark an aesthetic departure, they are rmly rooted in what has always been present in her work: a marriage of “tragedy and hopefulness.”These paintings are so raw; they’re so far from anything I’ve ever done before,” said Lisa Beane about her show “Chapters,” now on view at The Jefferson School African American Cultural Heritage Center through March 30.

Lisa Beane pulls joy from chaos and crisis in her paintings on exhibition at The Jefferson School African American Cultural Heritage Center.
